If I do manage to get connected in the other rooms, it just cuts out. It doesnt work in any other room in the house. But my notebook does not have any hardware button or FN-keys to enable/disable the WLAN. But Im not able to use it, because rfkill says it is hard blocked. The problem is that in order to get a connection, I have to be in the living room (the room where we keep the router). I upgraded my notebooks wlan (Sony Vaio SVE1511C5E) from an Atheros AR5B225 to an intel centrino advanced-n 6235.

My wireless card is an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235.
Intel centrino advanced n 6235 interface ubuntu windows 7#
It seems to work, but can somebody tell me if this was the right way to get it working? Because wireless still needs much more time to initially establish the connection than it took with my old notebook and debian. Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230, Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030, Intel Centrino Wireless-N 130, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235: 2.6.36+ iwlwifi-6000g2b. It is not good in either Windows 7 or in Ubuntu. To permanently make this work, I added options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/nf as first line after the comments. I'm not allowed to answer my own question, so here's an edit: Subsystem: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6235 AGN Some info about the wireless chip (from lspci -nnk): 01:00.0 Network controller : Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (rev 24) Trying to capture on wlan0, and I even brought the interface down and put it in Monitor mode via the cl (sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor).

Kernel version is 3.0.0-12-generic, Wireshark is 1.6.2, and libpcap 1.1.1. pinging my router leads to 100% packet loss, while doing the same with ethernet results in 0% loss. Ive got a Centrino Advanced-N 6205 chipset with the iwlagn driver. I cannot actually use this connection, e.g. It manages to establish a connection to my router without any problems, but that's it.

I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on a Samsung Series 5 530U3C-A0J and while Ethernet works, I am having trouble with wireless LAN.
